Professional Experience

Programming expertise in COBOL, Assembler, and REXX languages.  Enjoy programming challenges requiring the use of Assembler.  Extensive experience in batch and online programming in both production and development environments.

Experienced in IBM Language Environment (LE), COBOL, Assembler, and CICS administrative duties.  Held resident expert position for VSAM, programming languages, system software that improved runtime performance, and system utilities (i.e. SORT, etc.).  Provided consulting and support to clients with  COBOL and CICS migration issues.  Ascertained and communicated impact of changes to the application development groups regarding hardware, operating system, TSO/ISPF, CICS, LE, COBOL, Assembler, and system utilities.

As an original member of the Systematics EAA/SA Development group, I designed and coded the Reporting Facility, everything except for the Report Program Interface (RPI) translator program.  Key pieces included: PARMS screens, API exits, and RPI reports, report scheduling, the signal process, and SA41.  The Reporting Facility incorporated all of the other EAA/SA facilities such as Dictionary, PARMS, edit criteria, messages, equate data, and API.  Also responsible for ensuring that EAA/SA would function in a VSE environment.

Highly knowledgeable in all of the Systematics EAA/SA components of GN.

        Dictionary

PARMS (common control file database management system)

Element and DAG level Edit Facility

        Message Facility

        Equate Data

        SDMS (common I/O facility)

        SASERV (batch and online)

        Program management

        Storage management

        Task management

Application Program Interface (API) a CICS like translator that generates COBOL interface code to the EAA/SA services

Report Program Interface (RPI) a translator that generates COBOL code responsible for generating reports.  Similar to a 3rd generation report writer.

        Change Control

Provided consulting and problem solving skills for clients, data centers, and application development groups on application use and implementation of EAA/SA components of GN.  Worked with clients and data centers to analyze, establish, and evaluate control records and application modifications, answer questions, and assist in problem solving.  Assisted application development groups with project design walk-throughs and education group with EAA/SA classes for clients and employees.

Designed and developed a set of programming tools written in REXX and usable in the TSO/ISPF/ISREDIT environments. Documentation can be provided on request.

Created a program that scans LOADLIBs and reports on program names, binder/link-edit options, compiler, compiler version, compiler options used, LE conforming, CICS translator used, API translator used, COBOL verbs used, etc.  This utility is extremely helpful for CICS and compiler upgrades.  Documentation can be provided on request.

Developed a date subroutine written in COBOL that implements all of the IBM LE date services.  Documentation can be provided on request.

Designed and developed a subroutine package that provides most if not all the same string services that REXX provides, written in LE conforming Assembler.  Documentation can be provided on request.

Created documentation on how to read dumps, available on request.
