Professional Experience:

1997 to present                            Boeing Co. Mesa, AZ

Senior Business Programmer/Analyst

Provided the Enhancements for the Business Financial systems for a site with 4,000 workers. The major subsystems are Labor, Time & Attendance, Accounts Payable and Contract Labor Accounting. These systems were also supported with upgrades to the data interfaces as required by the changing business systems. Designed and created, in Oracle 10/g, a People data system that provided a site index of all the people on-site and kept a cross-reference of user access accounts. Most of the batch systems are in COBOL, also using Syncsort and reporting languages. Participated in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle from design and implementation of new systems to system retirements. Participated in the pilot team to adopt the Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model Integration (SEI-CMMI) practices for our site, which has led to standardized and institutionalized practices for the IT groups.

1991 to 1997                            State of Arizona     Phoenix, AZ

Programmer/Analyst III.  For the Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).  Developed systems in IDEAL language and Datacom database.  Gained expertise in medical management systems.  My team was converting to use new areas for fee-for-service claims. Batch parts of the system are in Cobol2 and Datacom. Lead Analyst on preparing the "data book" describing our service usage and profiles used in the bidding process for one of their large contracts.

Part of the team that made a major rewrite of the system for Child Support Enforcement.  Participated in design, systems analysis, and program development in the new system, written in ADABAS database and NATURAL language.  A rapid application development (RAD) approach was used. The system was brought into production statewide with my support. My research led to enhance the VSAM file access which improved the speed of data access to be eight times faster.  System was migrated to COBOL2 and CICS/COBOL2.

1980 to 1990              Consultant Assignments

Systems Engineer, Consulting Programmer Analyst.

For an aerospace company, working with the factory system group to support their MRP system and interfaces to the financial systems and the automated warehouse/inventory system.  This was a CICS system that used IDMS and VSAM files.  Developed improvements in the ADS/O transaction history screens.

At a defense plant, on a project to develop a system of performance measurement and contract reporting.  The system was IDMS database and ADS/O online.  Other parts were CICS and VSAM file based.  Responsible for design, analysis, programming, documentation and testing.  Also, developed JCL and procs for the production batch jobs.  As an additional duty, I served as the site manager for the consultant firm at this facility.

For electronics manufacturer assigned to two projects.  Enhanced an on-line system using ADS/O dialogs for Project Tracking.  Second project was to maintain and enhance a warehouse system in CICS and VSAM for returned, spare, and repaired parts.

For state agency, to develop a watercraft registration and certificate system.  This was on-line on a DPS/6, done in DM/6 database and DM6/TP.  The coding, program conversion, testing and QA were my responsibility.  This was essentially a one-man project.

Programmer/Analyst II.  For a state agency, design and programming of their Financial Information System.  This involved both batch and on-line programs, and database access and interfaces.  Part of the assignment was to have two of their staff coding from my specifications.
