CICS Contention Analyzer


Critical Path Software has completed the development of CICS Contention Analyzer, a new tool developed over the past 5 years, which uses TURBO our expert performance tuning database combined with your CICS statistics to identify and fix spikes and Slow Response times in performance occurring in CICS regions.


                                        
No other software has this ability.

A full-blown analysis by DB2 Contention Analyzer will accomplish the following:
  Identify contention from outside interferences
  ● Improve Online Response Time
  ● Reduce system overhead from DB2, CICS, User Catalogs, Bootstrap files.
  ● Reduce DB2 region overhead
  ● Reduce CICS region overhead
  ● Reduce DB2 TCB/CPU
  ● Reduce CICS TCB/CPU
  ● Reduce DB2 SRB/CPU
  ● Reduce CICS SRB/CPU
  ● Increase Transactions/Second
  ● Reduce or eliminate Runaway Transactions
  ● Reduce DB2 System File I/O
  ● Reduce CICS System File I/O
  ●  Eliminate On-Line Spiking
  ●  Improve Look-aside hit ratios
  ● Improve the balance of LSR Buffer Pools
  ● Allow running of more SQL's (DB2) per second (Queries)

                                        To accomplish this we will need:

  ●  Listcats of the User Catalog(s) which contain the CICS system and work files
  ●  CICS shut down statistics for the Region being analyzed
  CICS compile deck used for the CICS Region GEN
  Listcats for all the files used in the CICS Region
  Listcats of the User application catalogs
  Also, all files that access the CICS region that we are analyzing


This is the result of an actual analysis of a CPSI client's DB2/CICS region.
