Senior Storage Administrator

·         Administered / managed approximately 500 TB of data in a parallel Sysplex (multiplex) environment.

·         Primarily worked independently on all projects, spear headed the UCB reclamation project to reduce the number of unit addresses in the environment by reconfiguring all IBM DS8300 old volumes (mod3, mod9) with higher density volumes (mod-27, mod-54), thus minimizing the number of mod-3s and mod-9s addresses

·         Performed TDMF data moves from low density drives to higher density drives, oncall support for after hours, perform catalog work, building aliases, performing merge cats, enlarging catalogs, perform disaster recovery drills, assisted with the testing of z/OS 1.9 to z/OS1.10 implementation, working on multiple parallel sysplex environments with DFSMS, HSM, TDMF, CA-VANTAGE, CA1

·         Was responsible for providing DASD and technical support to the organization, administer 40 TB of data throughout an SMS and HSM multi LPAR Sysplex environment.

·         Expand the HSM control datasets by splitting the CDSs into 4 full volumes, perform cleanup work in several storage groups.

·         Migrated old HSM data from the STK SILOs into the IBM VTS tape library.

·         Working with multi shared ICF catalogs and cleaning up several bad catalog aliases/entries.

·         Defined several VTS Tape libraries into the existing SMS environment for remote tape vaulting.

·         Modified SMS ACS code to route data to new VTS drives, trouble shoot bad VTS tape problems and correct them, upgrade the HSC code to the new NCS format for the STK Silos, perform volume moves using TDMF, all projects were worked independently and with proper coordination with the Systems Programmers.

·         Provided DASD and technical support to the Charles Schwab organization, administer 60 TB of data throughout a multiplex SMS, multiplex HSM, and multi Sysplex environments all operating on OS/390 2.6 & 2.8.

·         Added NEW LPARS to the SMS environments, enlarge the HSM plex by splitting the CDSs into two full volumes, perform cleanup work in the SMS ACS code, clean and plan the HSM environments.

·         Working with multi shared ICF catalog environments, create new user catalogs for new environments.

·         Prepared the SMS and HSM environment for the conversion from FDR to DFSMS and HSM.

·         Migrated data from EMC DASD to HDS 7700E DASD using the TDMF data mover product.

·         Ensured TLMS is properly managing tapes through the use of RMF.
